Premier Silkies Bearded Black Silkies
This program started in 2005 with stock from Myron Turk, Glenn See, and a Eddy Travers hen. It really took off in 2006 when I bought up all but one pair of George Mihaliks black flock and also bought another few pullets from Myron Turk. We struggled for 2007 with the program and in 2008 we bought back a Hattrick/Glenn See cross cock back from a friend and two linebred GM cocks from Barb Aerni. They were only used for the one breeding season, by 2009 our GM cock was producing and the young males we had were doing there jobs.
It is always a struggle at the shows to get judges to notice the blacks quality when they are so used to picking the whites, but we keep trying and in the last few years it has turned around. Here in 2012 we are bringing back a cock we bred in 2008 that is the Turk/See cross. We have been very fortunate with the wonderful stock from each years breedings.
Our program is black on black only and I am fussy about no bad blacks being in the program, just the deepest darkest black.

Retired stock
Domino & Tabitha pictured here at the 2006 Crossroads of America show when the took BV & RV , are the last of the George Mihalik stock we own. They are retired in a private pen and have made a huge contribution to our breeding program. A huge thank to George for selling us such wonderful birds and all the great advise!
Some of our wins over the years!

2012 Breeding Season
2011 was a good year for breeding out nice pullets & cockerels that were clear. A number of them were late 2011 hatches so will not be used in 2012 until late spring to summer. We only used one male in 2011 "Kipp" an although he is not a show boat looker he certainly produced both quality males & females on all the hens.
Have had the first chicks hatch from Darren on the active breeding hens on 1/2/12! Super excited and hopefully we have some good looking chicks, lots more due and still being set.
Will use the three cockerels after show season if they are ready, otherwise I will put Kipp on a group and use another group of hens for the paint program.

New Additions 2011-12 "Darren"
This is a male I bred in 2008 and gave to Cara along with two pullets to start her on the black program. This fall of 2011 I got him back to rebreed over the hens. He is Half Turk/Half Glenn See/Hattrick same as my APA winning hen, these birds have no Mihalik in them and are super cross outs. Really excited for this coming years breedings from him!
